Quarantine

When the security threats are detected, the original files or detected harmful softwares such as spyware are sent to and stored in Quarantine depending on your scan settings. Also, the data removed during system optimization is copied to and stored for backup in Quarantine.

However, some of quarantined files may be required for your system operation or system restoration even though they can cause some damages to your system. If unknown or uncleanable viruses are detected and sent to Quarantine, you can send it to AhnLab for sample collection and analysis.

The collected data is used only for program development and performance improvements.

 

 

To learn about what's on the Quarantine, read the following:

Note
The option of Run with administrative privileges is activated when you log in to your system with user privileges. You can manage the data in Quarantine with administrative privileges only. This option is available in Windows Vista.

 

To quarantine infected files or harmful software, complete the following steps:

  1. Open V3 Net 9.0.
  2. Click Settings (), and go to Scan Settings of System Scan, Real-time Scan, and Real-time Messenger Scan.
  3. Select the check box of "Send the detected files to Quarantine before cleaning or deleting" in Clean Process.
  4. Click Apply to apply the settings.
  5. Click OK to close the open window.

 

To restore the quarantined data, complete the following steps:

  1. Open V3 Net 9.0.
  2. Go to System Security, and click Quarantine.
  3. You can view the following information:
  1. If you want to restore the data, select an item in the list and right-click on it. Select Restore or click the Restore icon on the toolbar.
  2. Select the location to restore the data:
Note
The specified maximum size of data is stored in Quarantine during the specified period. If you need to store important data, it is recommended to back up the data in other storage devices.
  1. If you want to delete the data, select an item in the list and right-click on it. Select Delete.
Caution
To delete the selected data only, right-click the data and select Delete. The deleted data in Quarantine cannot be restored any more. Therefore, you must make sure that the data is not required any more before you delete it.

 

To submit unknown or uncleanable viruses, complete the following steps:

  1. Open V3 Net 9.0.
  2. Go to System Security, and click Quarantine.
  3. Go to Virus or Spyware.
  4. Select an item in the list and right-click on it.
  5. Select Submit.
  6. When a sample report form appears, fill in the all required fields and submit it.
Note
A notification window will be displayed if there are any compressed files backed up in the quarantine. After checking the compressed file, proceed to delete or restore it.
