Scan Exceptions
If the scan exclusions are specified, a server admin
will not perform a scan for the folders or files specified for scan exclusions
when running a PC scan for agent computers. Allowed malicious codes or
potentially malicious programs registered in the list for scan exclusions
will not be scanned. If files, which do not have any potential risk of
infection, are registered in the list for scan exclusions, the total scan
duration can be reduced. You can register scan exception in the following
way.
Note
When the option for Apply the scan
exclusion list configured in the server is enabled in the scan
exclusion settings, the scan exclusions can be specified. If Agent
Settings are maintained, the server settings will not be applied.
To register scan exception:
- Log in to the admin console.
- Click Policy.
- Click Add to move
to Anti-Malware Policy > V3 Net.
- Click PC Security
> Scan Exclusions.
- Enable or disable the policy configured in the
server.
- Maintain the agent
settings: Applies the scan exceptions as a user-defined for agents.
- Override and apply
the server settings: Applies the scan exceptions defined by admin,
regardless of the agent scan exception settings.
- Select the Do
not scan the items below checkbox.
- Click Add to specify
a scan exclusion.
The scan exceptions can be a folder, a file or an extension. Scan
exclusion can be added up to 50.

for a scan exception.
- Path: Specifies a path for the selected folder.
You can select the absolute path, Windows Program Files folders and
Windows folders for the path.
- Folder Name: Enter a folder name for a scan
exception. The folder name must be in a format of 'Drive Name:\Folder
Name’ or ‘Environment Variables\\Folder Name’. (ex: C:\Temp\FolderName,
%TEMP%\FolderName)
- File: Adds a file for a scan exception.
- File Name: Enter a file name for a scan exception.
The file name must be in a format of 'Drive Name:\Folder Name’ or

%TEMP%\FolderName\abc.txt)
- Extension: Adds an extension for a scan exception.
The extensions can be added up to 260 characters. (Alphabets only)
Note
If more than two extensions are added, separate them with
a slash (/). For example, bmp/gif/txt.
Note
\ : * ? " . Characters such as < > | cannot
be used for the extension. The executable files such as exe, dll or ocx
cannot be entered for the scan exclusion.
- Select the Do
not scan the system restore folder checkbox.
- Do not scan the system restore folder If Do not scan the system restore folder is selected,
the system restore folder will not be scanned. The system restore
folder allows tracking changes, which can damage a PC for the Windows
to restore the system. As the system restore folder only allows the
Windows to create the folder and to save the required file, the infected
files found in the restore folder cannot be repaired as an anti-malware
program does not have the write permission. The reason why a malicious
code is found in the system restore folder is the Windows backs up
the infected files whenever the files in the system restore folder
is backed up. And therefore, if a malicious code is found in the system
restore folder, the infected file cannot be repaired. If the system
is restored using an infected file saved in the system restore folder,
the system will be restored to be infected. When restoring the system,
a user should make sure whether the file is infected or not. The system
restore folder for Windows XP and Windows 7 is located in the Windows
installation drive: :\WINDOWS\system32\Restore.
- Click Add to add malware exclusions. You must
enter the name of the malware alias as defined by V3.
Caution
Register a malicious code for scan exception as the excluded
malicious will never be scanned. Use this feature only if necessary.
- Click OK
then Save.

exception You can use an environmental variable for the scan exception.
