Configuring Default Groups
You can group client computers for convenience. It will
be easy to apply policies to client computers grouped by department or
characteristics. If you use Auto-Grouping, the client computers will be
grouped according to the set auto-grouping rules.
Use Auto-Grouping
Auto-grouping automatically groups client computers that have installed
the agent installation file and are connected to the server. The super
admin does not need to manually add individual client computers to groups.
To set Auto-Grouping:
- Go to Settings
> Group > Default Group.
- Select Use Auto-Grouping.
- Group by: Select the auto-grouping method.
- Class C IP address: Group client computers
by Class C IP address. For example, client computer with IP address
192.168.1.1 will be grouped in 192.168.1.0 group.
- Class B IP address: Group client computers
by Class B IP address. For example, client computer with IP address
192.168.1.1 will be grouped in 192.168.0.0 group.
- Class B/C IP address: Group client computers
by Class C IP address under Class B IP address. For example, client
computer with IP address 192.168.1.1 will be grouped in 192.168.1.0
group under 192.168.0.0 group.
- Department: Auto-group client computers
by department.
- Path: Enter the upper group or else the group
will be created under the domain. E.g. /group
- Target: Select the client computers to auto-group.
- All connected agents: All agents connected
to the server.
- All agents in the group: Only the agents in
the default group.
- Group based on: If you have selected to group
based on IP, select the IP type to use. Note that it is convenient
to set the auto-grouping feature, if the agent's actual IP and the
accessing IP differs in the NAT environment.
- Agent IP: Group by the agent's IP class range.
- IP Connected to server: Group by the agent's
IP class range used to connect to the server.
- Click Save.
Policy Precedence
Set the precedence of policies in case changes are made on agents with
individual policies. You can set to either prioritize group policy and
overrule individual policy or prioritize and maintain individual policy.
Automatically Delete Empty Groups
Set to automatically delete empty groups with no agents to manage.
- Simply enter the time interval for checking
and deleting empty groups. (Default: 7 days)
