Configuring Default Groups
You can group client computers for convenience.
It will be easy to apply policies to client computers grouped by department
or characteristics. If you use Auto-Grouping, the client computers will
be grouped according to the set auto-grouping rules.
Use Auto-Grouping
Auto-grouping automatically groups client computers that have installed
the agent installation file and are connected to the server. The super
admin does not need to manually add individual client computers to groups.
To set Auto-Grouping:
- On the top of the web page, click Settings.
- From the left menu, select Group
> Default Group.
- Select Use Auto-Grouping.
- Group by: Select the auto-grouping method.
- Class C IP address: Group client computers
by Class C IP address. For example, client computer with IP address
192.168.1.1 will be grouped in 192.168.1.0 group. This is the default.
- Class B IP address: Group client computers
by Class B IP address. For example, client computer with IP address
192.168.1.1 will be grouped in 192.168.0.0 group.
- Class B/C IP address: Group client computers
by Class C IP address under Class B IP address. For example, client
computer with IP address 192.168.1.1 will be grouped in 192.168.1.0
group under 192.168.0.0 group.
- Domain/Task Group: Auto-group client computers
by NT domain.
- Department: Auto-group client computers
by department.
- Get group info.: Auto-group client computers
based on group database (*.GLF).
- Path: Enter the upper group or else the group
will be created under the domain. e.g.) /group
- Target: Select the client computers to auto-group.
- All connected client computers: All clients
computers connected to the server.
- Client computers in default group: Only the
client computers in the default group.
- Get an IP address from: Select which IP address
to use as the group name.
- from a client computer: Group by the client
computer's IP address class range.
- from a server: Group by the client computer's
IP address class range used to connect to the server.
- Click Save.
Group Policy Inheritance
To specify the settings for client computers to inherit the group policy:
- On the top of the web page, click Settings.
- From the left menu, select Group
> Default Group.
- Select a Group Policy
Inheritance option.
- Apply upper domain/group policy to all agents:
Apply upper domain/group policy to all client computers.
- Apply upper domain/group policy to all agents
except for agents with individual policy: Apply upper domain/group
policy to all client computers except for those with individual policy.
- Click Save.
Delete agents from Empty Group at regular interval
Automatically delete empty groups with no client computer at regular
interval. To specify the settings:
- On the top of the web page, click Settings.
- From the left menu, select Group
> Default Group.
- Specify the interval to delete agents from Empty
Group on a regular basis..
- Interval: Enter
the interval to automatically delete
empty groups. Enter a number between 1 and 30. (Default: 7 days)
- Click Save.
